One Dead, One Hospitalized in West Fargo Fentanyl Spill

West Fargo officers arrived at 612 6th Street east last night after receiving a call of a fentanyl exposure

WEST FARGO, N.D. — West Fargo police are in the process of investigating a fatal fentanyl exposure.

West Fargo officers arrived at 612 6th Street east last night after receiving a callĀ for help.

When police arrived on scene, they found two males who were unresponsive.

After life-saving measures were attempted, one male was transported to the hospital and the second victim, 19 year old Alexander Hirn was pronounced dead at the scene.

West Fargo responders found a large amount of the deadly drug on part of a mattress, the carpet and spotted it on clothing.

They decided to take extreme measures and triple bagged the items, sealed them with chemical tape and placed them in a dumpster.

The items were then taken to the Fargo landfill.

Police say last night’s incident was a tragic eye opening example for the F-M area.

“The focus on this point forward needs to be that this drug will overtake anybody regardless of age, or socio or economic status,” said Interim Police Chief Jerry Boyer with the West Fargo Police Department. “This is a problem for our entire community.”

Chief Boyer also said whenever there is a drug related incident, do not hesitate to call 911 and don’t worry about the consequences.

On KVRR Local News at 9, we’ll hear more from health officials on how this is a growing problem in the F-M area.
