First Day of School For Moorhead Area Public Schools

Summer has Officially Ended for the Children of Moorhead Area Public Schools

MOORHEAD, Minn. — Labor Day marks the end of summer for a lot of people in Minnesota, which means it’s time to go back to school!

Moorhead Area Public Schools welcomed back students.

Part of Horizon Middle School was one of the new schools that opened in the District.

The school now has a fifth and sixth grade side along with a seventh and eighth grade side.

The school district anticipates the change will cause a little more traffic.

“Go slow; give yourself a more time, leave earlier than you normally would,” said Brandon Lunak, who is the Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations for the district. “I think both drop off points will be a little bit busier this time of year.”

Construction on Horizon Middle School is expected to be finished by February.
