A Public Art Piece is Unveiled Downtown and Yes, You Can Take a Selfie

the project cost $10,000 and supports local art

FARGO, ND — There’s a new spot in town where the Fargo Park District encourages you to take plenty of selfies.

The Park District and the F-M Convention and Visitors Bureau teamed up to unveil a public art piece downtown.

Each group contributed $5,000 to the project, which supports local art.

They wanted an artist who could capture the spirit of Fargo and North Dakota and found that in local artist Steve Knutson’s work.

“This was the artist that really did that in every form and fashion,” said Joel Vettel, who is the executive director of the Fargo Park District. “We think he nailed it. We think as a group, we brought forth a great piece of art that we feel really represents not only our community, but our state and more importantly, the people.”

The park district plans to work on the landscaping near the mural in the spring.
