Lights On Afterschool Fun Run

The YMCA of Cass and Clay Counties Hosted a Lights On Afterschool Fun Run to Support Before and Afterschool Programs

FARGO, ND — It may have been a day off for some students in the metro, but they laced up their shoes for the Annual Lights on Afterschool Youth 1K run.

Kids who are a part of the before and after school programs at the YMCA of Cass and Clay gathered at Island Park.

After the run, they colored with chalk and took pictures at a photo booth.

It’s all to promote awareness of afterschool programs and how they provide a safe place as well as a place where kids can be active.

“They don’t always get those sixty minutes at school so we try to at least provide thirty minutes of that active learning that they need,” Said Janaya Johnson a School Aged Learning Coordinator for the YMCA of Cass Clay.

The YMCA of Cass Clay provides before and after school care to over 30 local schools and centers, which effects nearly 2,000 kids.
