Newly Renovated John E. Carlson Coliseum Re-Opens in Fargo

Officials hope the rink will be available for use during off seasons

FARGO, ND — The Fargo Park District has officially re-opened the John E. Carlson Coliseum in North Fargo.

The Coliseum is located at 807 17th Avenue North.

Park district officials said it has a new regulation ice rink, seven locker rooms, a new training room and seating for 500 people.

The renovations also include a new referee room and the rink will have a multi-purpose platform.

Park District Executive Director, Joel Vettel, said it was time to put some work into the building’s restoration.

“Really put in that investment that we feel will take us into the next 50 years. That’s why it’s so cool,” Vettel said. “If you look out here and recognize the beauty of having an older facility that we really took and we just provided some opportunities to make it look great.”

The Fargo Park District hopes this new design will also put the coliseum to use during off seasons.
