Traill County 4th Grader Creates Winning “I Voted” Sticker for use in North Dakota Elections
Khloe Brandon's sticker was chosen from 43 entries at the statewide level to win the contest.
TRAILL COUNTY, N.D.–A Traill County fourth grader was chosen as the winner of the “I Voted” sticker contest launched by the North Dakota County Auditors Association.
Khloe Brandon’s sticker was chosen from 43 entries at the statewide level to win the contest.
Khloe’s sticker design is an eagle in front of an American flag donned with the words “I Voted.”
Mrs. Tracy Handly, Khloe’s teacher at Hatton Eielson Public School, says, “I can’t wait to see everyone wearing her sticker on Election Day. Our county auditor contacted me about this opportunity and came and explained the project to our class. I gave students some class time to create their design. In fourth grade, we not only learn about North Dakota studies, but citizenship and government. We discuss how voting is a right and a responsibility; so this project was a great addition to that.”
The North Dakota County Auditors Association awarded Khloe with a plaque with a picture of her “I Voted” sticker. Khloe was also recognized at her school for winning the competition.
Since the June election will be done by mail, many counties will be mailing the “I Voted” sticker along with the ballot for voters.
Anyone who does not receive their ballot my May 11 should contact their county auditor.
