MSHSL To Shorten Winter Sports Season

The board of directors agreed on a modified schedule that will cut down games by 30%

The Minnesota State High School League Board of Directions approved a motion to shorten winter sports seasons. They contemplated three different kinds of schedules before selecting the one they’re calling the “maximized winter season.” In this modified look, seasons will be cut them down by 30% with a limit of two contests a week and teams can only play conference, section, as well as local opponents.

Dance Team – Nov. 9 – 15 weeks – 11 contests

Adapted Floor Hockey – Nov. 16 – 16 weeks – 11 contests

Boys Swimming and Diving – Nov. 30 – 13 weeks – 18 contests

Boys Hockey – Nov. 23 – 16 weeks – 18 contests

Girls Hockey – Nov. 30 – 16 weeks – 18 contests

Girls Gymnastics – Nov. 30 – 14 weeks – 11 contests

Boys Basketball – Nov. 23 – 17 weeks – 18 contests

Girls Basketball – Nov. 30 – 17 weeks – 18 contests

Nordic and Alpine Ski – Nov. 30 – 14 weeks – 11 contests

Wrestling – Nov. 30 – 14 weeks – 16 contests
