Minnesota Department of Health Approves Jan. 14 Start Date for Winter Sports Competition

Teams can start practicing on Jan, 4

ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Minnesota Department of Health gifted high school winter sports athletes with one last present before the new year. State health officials are letting the games begin on January 14th.

Practice sizes can have no more 25 players together at one time. No spectators are allowed, however, players can request one parent to be present.

Masks must be worn by players in sports where a face covering is not a choking hazard. That includes both basketball and hockey.

Teams were already allowed to start practicing on January 4th.

More reaction to the decision coming tonight on KVRR Local News.
