89 year-old truck driver recognized by North Dakota Highway Patrol
BISMARCK, N.D. (KVRR) – One of the oldest truck drivers in the nation recently made his way into North Dakota.
Eighty-nine-year-old Dave Sheets is from the Denver area.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol tweeted a photo and commended Sheets for his dedication to safety.
Sheets participated in International Roadcheck, an annual event when certified inspectors conduct compliance, enforcement and educational initiatives targeted at motor carrier, vehicle and driver safety.
Sheets drives for Savannah Transport, which is based in suburban Salt Lake City.
Owner Terry Crawford says Sheets is a “terrific, old-school truck driver” who can “outdo” most of his younger drivers.
Crawford says Sheets has been employed with him for more than 25 years. Sheets delivers general cargo, including hazardous materials to several Western and Central states.
