No. 12/11 Bison Prepare for Racers

BISON PLAYERS SPEAK TO MEDIA AHEAD OF SATURDAY'S MVFC GAME.

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR)– The North Dakota State Bison welcome in the Murray State Racers on Saturday and look to build on their most recent win against Western Illinois last Saturday. The Racers come in with a record of 2-5 on the season and the Bison sit at 5-2 themselves, ranked number 12 and 11 in different ranking polls. The game will present the Bison an opportunity to build more confidence ahead of three tough Missouri Valley Football Conference opponents in the following weeks: SDSU, Southern Illinois and Northern Iowa loom on the upcoming schedule for the Bison, but this week their focus remains on Murray State.

“I think that win was huge for us,” said starting Quarterback Cam Miller on Tuesday. “I think we need to learn from that win and grow from it. We don’t overlook anybody and watching the tape [Murray State] is a very good football team. So, we are definitely not going to take them lightly. We need to continue to focus on us and our approach and how are we going to get better. What are some things we can do to win these last few games.”

Senior defensive lineman Jake Kava echoes that same mindset.

“People always use the term ‘trap game’, but we are not looking at it like that.” said Kava. “If you look at their right tackle, DJ Jones, probably one of the best offensive lineman we have played this year. He’s got in his career…800 pass blocking snaps and he’s given up just 2 sacks. So, I think that is good enough. I look at the individual matchup a little bit more than the entire team. So, [I am] just going into the game knowing they have some dudes up front and a quarterback that can throw it.”

The Bison and Racers kickoff at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the FargoDome.
