NDSU Football Prepares For No. 1 Jacks

North Dakota State Looks for their First Win Over SDSU Since 2019

FARGO, N.D. — North Dakota State visits South Dakota State this Saturday for the annual Dakota Marker Game. Saturday’s game marks the 115th meeting on the gridiron between SDSU and North Dakota State. NDSU leads the overall series by a 63-46-5 count, including a 10-9 advantage in Dakota Marker games since the two programs moved to the Football Championship Subdivision in 2004. The Jacks however have won the last four meetings between the rivals and come in ranked number on in the FCS.

If the Bison lose Saturday it would tie their longest losing streak against SDSU in over 100 years when they lost 5 straight to the Jacks from 1910 to 1917. In more recent history, NDSU last fell to the Jacks in the FCS Championship in January and last October at the Fargodome despite taking a 21-7 lead into halftime; the Bison fell 23-21 after failing to score in the second half. Leaders of this year’s team now look at what went wrong last season and what they can do better this time as they look to earn their first win over the Jacks since 2019…

“We just need to start fast. We started fast last year in the regular season and then we just couldn’t close it out. But in the championship game we just couldn’t get it going right away and they just took of so we got to stay in the game the whole time and just compete with them,” said senior defensive tackle, Eli Mostaert

“Only the fifth and sixth year guys ever have gotten the chance to beat them so it will definitely be.. it’s big for the whole team. We’re all just very excited and it means a lot to all of the players on this team and hopefully that we can get a win so everyone can experience holding that rock,” said senior wide receiver, Zach Mathis.
