Progressive program Keys to Progress gifts local veteran a car
WEST FARGO, N.D. (KVRR)- It was a lucky day for a veteran from West Fargo.
Melissa Gillett LeDuc was presented with a new car, courtesy of Progressive Insurance. This year, the Keys to Progress program provided 80 vehicles to veterans across the country LeDuc is an Air Force Veteran, serving 2 tours in Kuwait and Afghanistan.
Keys to Progress has been going on for 11 years. LeDuc’s car was the 1000th giveaway.
Amy Matejkec, Progressive Supervisor of Claims, said “We’ve been doing the keys to progress program for 11 years now, the very first giveaway was in 2013. And we’ve started our service centers across the nation and just recently we’ve spread to all states in the country to be able to give cars away to veterans everywhere”
Matejkec also said, “82 across the nation just 1 in Fargo but we’re also giving vehicles not only to private veterans that need them individually, but some commercial businesses that are veteran owned are receiving commercial vehicles to help their businesses thrive”
Many members of Keys to Progress are veterans themselves, and are grateful for the opportunity to give back to the community.
“Absolutely incredible”. Matejkec said, “I have a military family as well. I’ve been a member of the VFW auxiliary for many years, and it’s just so important for us to be able to give back and use the ties that we have within the industry to be able to provide such a great benefit to veterans locally”
In total, over 1000 veterans, family members, and businesses in total have been helped by the Keys to Progress program.
