FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – AAA Expects this year’s Thanksgiving travel to be as busy as ever.

AAA projects 55.4 million travelers will head 50 miles or more from home over the Thanksgiving holiday travel period

The number of travelers will be the third highest forecast since AAA began tracking holiday travel in 2000.

AAA also says 1 in every 5 people in the western region of the Midwest are expected to travel for the holiday.

Gene LaDoucher of AAA says it’s better to plan a head further then you think.

“Plan in advance and pack some patients you’re not going to be the only one traveling out there this holiday season. A lot of turkey is going to be consumed at areas that are not home because we’re expecting more than 55 and a half million Americans will be traveling during this period.” Said LaDoucher.

AAA encourages travelers to develop their plan now, leave early, and be courteous to others.
