Christkindlmarkt is back in Fargo
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR)- Christkindlmarkt is back and better than ever.
It has an outdoor winter wonderland with twinkling trees and smores by the fire, to an indoor market full packed with local artisan crafts and small businesses, and even live performances from local choir groups to bigger bands.
Lesleyanne Buegel, Folkways programs manager, described the event as “Yeah Christkindlmarkt is a community holiday market that folkways puts on, it runs 2 weekends here, it is 5 dollars to get in, and you are entering a world where you have a host of activities, performances, games, and different moments to shop local vendors and connect with your friends or meet new people”.
Christkindlmarkt is a rare opportunity for local small businesses to show off their products and put it all on display at a big event.
The vendors we talked with are very appreciative of this opportunity. Jessica Korynta, Owner of Knask Designs, said “Its really a great opportunity to be out in front of a really big audience that normally doesn’t come out to events people that want to come to a concert or come to get food.” She also said, “It really opens you up to a different audience who can come and see your things.”
Christkindlmarkt is usually a one weekend event, but this year it is expanding to include next weekend, the 24th-26th of november, as well.
Maren Skates, Vendor for Rosemaled Creations, said “As for the vendors to get that other opportunity to represent their product and the opportunity to share that with people if they missed out the first weekend is absolutely phenomenal”.
Christkindlmarkt is full of things to do for parents and children, and the expansion for another weekend allows more people who may have missed it to experience the event.
