Matt Entz Leaving NDSU After FCS Playoffs
NDSU BISON HEAD COACH MATT ENTZ REPORTEDLY ACCEPTS NEW JOB AS LINEBACKERS COACH AT USC
FARGO, N.D. (NDSU ATHLETICS)–North Dakota State head football coach Matt Entz announced Sunday, Dec. 10, that he will resign to accept a coaching position with another Division I university playing at the FBS level.
Entz will continue coaching the Bison through the FCS playoffs. NDSU (11-3) is scheduled to play at Montana in the NCAA FCS semifinals on Saturday, Dec. 16.
A search will begin immediately for NDSU’s next head football coach.
Entz, who joined the Bison program in 2014 as defensive coordinator, has a 60-10 record as head coach for five seasons from 2019 through 2023.
Entz has been part of six FCS national championships at NDSU, including two as head coach in 2019 and 2021. He was selected FCS National Coach of the Year by the American Football Coaches Association both of those years.

“The last 10 ears have been an unbelievable experience for my family and myself. People have asked me over and over what is it about the Bison and Fargo? It is easy, the people! From the assistant coaches, support staff and administration to our unbelievable fans, BisoNation and Fargo have provided a place for mu family to grow up, a place to call home, and provided me with an experience second to none. Being part of the Bison football program will be something we cherish forever. The friendships and relationships created through the game of football and within the communitu have been remarkable. Thank you to all of the players who I have had the opportunity to work with at NDSU!”
