Vikings Score Late; Win 3-0 Over Raiders

A 36-YARD GREG JOSEPH FIELD GOAL WINS IT FOR MINNESOTA.

LAS VEGAS (KVRR)–Scoreless for 58 minutes, it was a Greg Joseph 36-yard field goal that allows Vikings fans to breathe a sigh of relief Sunday.

Josh Dobbs got the start for Minnesota, but played poorly. 10-for-23 through the air for 63 yards. He led the Vikings into field goal range one time, but a 49-yard attempt was no good from Joseph.

The Vikings turned to veteran Nick Mullens in the fourth quarter to try and light a spark. His presence was just enough. Mullens finished the day 9-for-13 for 83 yards. His key completions on a game-winning drive with under 3 minutes to go in the game allowed the Vikings to escape Sin City with a win.

The Vikings defense continued their excellence. Head Coach Kevin O’Connell has preached winning the turnover battle every week, and the Vikings did that today. A fumble forced in the 3rd quarter when Las Vegas was inside the RedZone and an interception at the end of the game to seal the victory led the Vikes to win the TO battle 2-0.

The win improves the Vikings record to 7-6 on the season and keeps them in the 6th playoff spot in the NFC.

The Vikings will travel to play (7-6) Cincinnati on Saturday at 12 P.M.

Other Notes:

Justin Jefferson left the game early in the second quarter with a chest injury and did not return. HC Kevin O’Connell said after the game that he went to the hospital to get checked out and will return to Minnesota with the team. More tests will be done this week to gauge his availability for Saturday.
