CODE GREEN PROMOTES FORMER ALL-AMERICAN LINEBACKER TO D.C.

FARGO, N.D. — North Dakota State is making changes to it’s defensive coaching staff. The Bison are parting ways with Jason Petrino after one year as defensive coordinator.  Tim Polasek is promoting Grant Olson as the team’s new defensive coordinator.

Olson was an All-American Linebacker for the Bison and a three-time FCS national champion during his playing career from 2010-2013. After finishing his playing career, he was a student assistant for Matt Entz who was the Bison’s linebacker coach in 2014. Next he spent two years as a graduate assistant at Wyoming under Craig Bohl. Olson returned to NDSU as the linebackers coach in 2019.

Longtime coach, Nick Goeser will also be promoted. Goeser has been a member of the Bison’s defensive coaching staff since 2010 when he took the defensive tackles coaching position; he was promoted to defensive line coach in 2022. Goeser will be co-defensive coordinator.

The Bison intend to keep their offensive coaching staff intact per sources.
