FARGO, N.D. (KVRR/KFGO) – One person is hospitalized after an overnight fire in Fargo.

Fire broke out at an apartment complex at 1469 35th Street South.

Battalion Chief Dane Carley says two trucks were dispatched to an alarm shortly after 1 a.m. and it was upgraded to a structure fire as firefighters were en route to the call by reports of alarms and smoke in the building

Fire crews found fire in the second-floor apartment and rescued one person. The victim was transported by Sanford Ambulance to a hospital with burns and smoke inhalation. The extent of their injury is not known.

Carley says there was smoke and fire damage in the apartment unit but he says the fire became “oxygen limited” and didn’t spread outside to other parts of the complex so other tenants were able to return to their apartments.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
