MN State Patrol says road conditions contributed to over 20 crashes on Christmas Day

MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) – These icy road conditions are causing a number or spinouts and crashes in the region. According to the Minnesota State Patrol they responded to 21 crashes as of the 26th, one involved non-life threatening injuries.
With the build up of ice, slush and puddles, it has made traveling difficult on the highways and roads. State Patrol Sgt. Jesse Grabow saw something this Christmas that was a first for him.
“25 years as a state trooper, seen a lot of different conditions on Christmas,” said Sgt. Grabow. “I’ve seen rain on Christmas but that was in snow. Now when we’re just dealing with pure out rain and hydroplaning on Christmas Day, that’s probably a first for me. So with that being said. It’s ever-changing, it can be challenging but everybody just got to do their part to keep themselves and everybody around them safe.”
The state patrol is continuing to monitor the roads.
