Fargo City Commission approves plan for possible new police headquarters

FARGO (KVRR-KFGO) – The Fargo City Commission has approved a master facilities plan for the police department, which includes a recommendation to build a new headquarters.
The police department moved into the current headquarters in October, 2019 and now leases the facility located at 25th St. & 1st Ave. N. The city has been in the process of purchasing it.
Brian Berryhill of Roth Sheppard Architects is with one of the teams that conducted the study, which found site and building deficiencies. The existing police headquarters was the biggest development and among the reasons for a new station that includes two building options.
The study found that the headquarters doesn’t meet current building code standards for a police facility, unsecured parking, site security, railroad proximity that is considered a threat to operations, and response times for officers.
The city commission voted 4-1 in favor of the plan.
