Fargo Public School Board hosts meetings about long term plans

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Fargo Public School District is holding meetings this week to answer questions about its Long Range Facility Plan.

The school district’s Long Range Facility plan will be used to help determine what happens to some of the district’s aging schools—and how to handle the consequences of those changes.
James Hand, Fargo Public Schools Director of Facilities, said, “So its really important that people come out, and absorb the information and give us that feedback because we will take that, along with the feedback from a survey that’s out right now, and that will help us shape and modify our current draft of the plan”
The board is hosting these meetings and conducting an online survey regarding the 10-15 year plan. The plan will address the age of district’s school buildings and differences in quality of learning between schools.
Hand said, “Even if we maintain the status quo, there’s a lot of needs in our facilities. So it’s the perfect time now to evaluate what’s the most effective way we can utilize tax payer dollars and provide the best possible outcome for the students who are in our facilities everyday.”
In these plans are options to move schools into different buildings and repurpose buildings, and all the work would be for the students. Hand also said, “And the reason those options are being put on the table is because we are trying to do everything we can to use data and provide the best outcomes for students in the facilities that we are providing and the spaces that we are providing programming.”
The final meeting is coming up Thursday at Fargo North High School. A link to the plan is https://www.fargo.k12.nd.us/Page/168
