North Dakota Football Loses Danny Freund to South Dakota State

UND OC Freund Heads South to Join the Jacks

GRAND FORKS, N.D. — Freund has been on the Fighting Hawks coaching staff for the past 13 seasons, but is leaving Grand Forks to join the offensive staff at two-time defending national champion South Dakota State to be a co-offensive coordinator and the quarterbacks coach. In 2023, UND’s offense ranked fifth in the Missouri Valley Football Conference in points per game with 31.4 — the second-consecutive season UND’s offense averaged more than 30.0 points per game. Head Coach Bubba Schweigert says the program is immediately moving forward to name the next offensive coordinator and is excited for that person to help keep moving UND football forward.
