Fergus Falls School District is closing schools early after shooting threat

FERGUS FALLS, Minn. (KVRR) — The Fergus Falls School District issues a Code Red after receiving calls from someone threatening to shoot through the school’s windows.
The calls came in around noon from an unidentified caller.
Parents and students were notified through text messages and on social media.
Police officers have been sent out to KSS, Adams School and Cleveland School.
Superintendent Drake says all students and staff are safe. Out of caution, school will be closing early. Buses are picking up kids at 1:30 p.m.
Lake Region Healthcare also went into lockdown after receiving a bomb threat. The hospital was one of many locations within the city to receive a threat.
Sgt. Connor West, with Fergus Falls Police, says similar threats are happening nationwide. The police department is working with state and federal authorities to help determine a suspect.
The threats are said to be a hoax and not credible.
In a letter to students, parents and staff, Superintendent Drake says, “School will resume tomorrow in all buildings. The Fergus Falls Police Department will have an officer stationed in each school out of an abundance of caution.”
