NDSU doctoral student helps develop cancer detection technology
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – An NDSU doctoral student is making waves in the biomedical engineering field.
Mahek Sadiq has helped develop a cancer detection technology working with two-dimensional nanomaterials.
The research focuses on cancer therapy guidance and tissue regeneration as well. The work was done in associate professor Danling Wang’s lab, which made her proud to see her students grow and make an impact.
“I can actually do something that might make an impact to people,” said Mahek Sadiq. “To those cancer patients. That can help them. That, yes we can have a longer life, we can survive too. We can have a healthy life too. So I think it’s great actually.”
Sadiq took the top prize in the North Dakota Innovation Challenge in 2020 with her team’s project on early diagnosis of lung cancer using their nanomaterial sensor.
