Twins Winter Caravan Returns to Fargo
TWINS FANS IN FARGO ENJOYED A MEET AND GREET WITH TWINS PERSONNEL PAST AND PRESENT.
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR)–While it does not look like baseball weather outside, inside the Sanctuary Event Center in downtown Fargo, it sure does. Fans gathered for the 62nd edition of the Minnesota Twins Winter Caravan. The event had it all: baseball food and a meet and greet with twins personnel…and of course T.C. Bear too.
The three-leg, 11 city schedule made its stop in Fargo and for twins players past and present, this event allows them to see the widespread love fans in the Dakotas have for the Minnesota Twins.
“We get to see the enthusiasm away from Minneapolis St. Paul, away from downtown and away from the cluster around there,” said former Twins closer and 3X all-star Glen Perkins. “You get to see the passion that the fans have. When they offered me the opportunity to come back on caravan, I jumped at it… didn’t even blink. It’s been everything that I remember and even more.”
Current Twin pitcher Kody Funderburk shared his experience at his first Caravan.
“It’s easy to forget that the Dakota’s don’t have a sports team,” said Funderburk. “The twins are the closest one, so it’s cool to be able to come over here, meet, interact and talk with them.”
And for fans to see their favorite team up close and personal, is an amazing experience.
“It’s unbelievable,” said Twins fan Connie Ness who also works for KFGO who helped set up the event. “They love it. You know, it’s one of those things that in Fargo, we get to enjoy a lot things that a lot of people don’t. It’s just the cream on top of the pudding, it’s wonderful.”
The twins ended their 18-game playoff losing streak in October, and that has twins fans excited for this upcoming season.
“Always Minnesota Twins,” said Ness. “End of story, always Minnesota Twins.”
And the players who helped end that excruciating streak are optimistic about the future.
“I think guys are excited and are driven to want to go back and go even further,” said Funderburk. “[We can’t wait to] see how the fans can be even louder in a championship series or in a World Series. So, it’s definitely a driving force [for this season].”
Truly a great event for all of Twins territory to enjoy.
Twins pitchers and catchers will report to Fort Myers, Florida on February 14. Full squad on February 18.
