Speedy Fargo South Soaring in the Boys Basketball

Fargo South Boys Basketball Comes Into the Week Ranked 4th in AA Boys Basketball and Atop the EDC Standings

FARGO, N.D. — Fargo South finished under .500 last season and lost two key big men to injury early this year.  This year, the Bruins are 9-4 on the season and 8-1 in EDC play so far this season. In the face of adversity, the team found ways to adapt their style of play to better fit their roster The result has led to a lot of run and gun and high scoring nights. The Bruins say their success has come off playing selfless on offense, creating turnovers on defense, putting in the work at practice, and playing to the team’s strengths, which often means playing fast.

“Without Reis Kessel, without Cole Kegbeh, who were both starters last year on our varsity team, we lost them early. And it’s like boy, what do we do? How are we going to handle this? And so we went, well, here is what we did last year in the JV. Let’s get’er going again and we’ve had pretty good success so far,” said head coach, Mike Hendrickson.

“We knock down threes, we give good passes. Passes matter. When we get good passes we make our shots. And we’re all everywhere on steals, rebounds, rebounds a big key, when me and Abakar are rebounding we play better. And when we’re attacking it makes us tremendously hard to stop,” said senior guard, James Hamilton.

“I think we just got to stay focused. Because being number one right now we could get really big headed so I hope every body just stays focused and keep the main thing the main thing,” said senior guard, Abu Trawally.
