Local Girl Scouts get help from Amazon with over 1.2 million cookies shipped in

WEST FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – Girl Scout Cookie season is upon us as local troops in the Fargo-Moorhead area prepare for their busiest time of the year. And they got some help from the Amazon Delivery Station in West Fargo, as the girl scouts will sort out thousands of Thin Mints and Tagalongs that will be sold all over the region.

“Here at Amazon having a warm, indoor area to unload cookies and also such a vast space so that we’re not stumbling over each other is a very, big improvement.” said Girl Scout Vivian Holt.

According to those working on this project, over 1.2 million cookies were sent to the delivery center. Those at the Amazon center say it’s important to connect with the community, and this is one of their ways of doing so.

“It’s an amazing feeling and an opportunity for us to take care of those that we live with and interact with on a semi-frequent basis when we’re out in the community.” said Andrew Minniti, an operations manager at the delivery center.

Cookie season is a huge part of Girl Scouts, honing in on their entrepreneurial skills. They learn a lot through the process, which is important according to Andre Magnusson, who’s daughter is in a local troop.

“Maybe they’re going to do something where they are going to have to handle money. Or they’re going to be interacting with people. It helps give them a foundation for making those leaps into adulthood.” said Andrea Magnusson.
