FARGO (KFGO) – Around a half-dozen people came together to help save a dog that ran into 25th Street S. in Fargo Wednesday morning.

It began when a woman saw a small, dark-colored dog running loose in the Rose Creek area. As the woman was trying to contain the dog, it ran into the street.

Traffic stopped and the dog hid under a car.

The woman called Fargo Police. Laverne Buzick is a Community Service Officer who responded to the call.

“We just all worked together and were able to get the pup out from underneath the car, and out of the traffic and contained,” Buzick said. “Now, I’ll take it to the pound and check for a microchip. We’ll monitor and see if we can figure out where this puppy came from.”

Buzick said they don’t want people in the street, but this case was different because that’s where everything was happening.

“This vehicle was obviously in the driving lane with cars going by, but there was nowhere for anybody to really go with the dog stuck under the car,” Buzick said.

Buzick said it was a good team effort and she’s very thankful for all the people who helped direct traffic and coax the dog to come out.

One person got nicked by the dog and went to get the injury checked.

Buzick said the dog appears to be a chihuahua mix. She was scared, but physically fine. Buzick said the end-goal is to find an owner and get vaccination records.
