NDSU Prepares For Rematch With Minnesota in WNIT
North Dakota State Takes on the Golden Gophers Friday Night in Minneapolis
FARGO, N.D. — North Dakota State Women’s Basketball continues their post-season run in the WNIT. Their next stop takes them down to Minnesota for a battle with the Golden Gophers.
NDSU comes into the matchup fresh off a 72-63 home win over the Montana Grizzlies. Meanwhile, the Gophers played their way into the Super 16 by defeating Pacific, 77-62 Tuesday night.
The Bison visited Minnesota in November and lost to the Gophers 75-53. The Bison feel they have improved tremendously since that last meeting however as they prepare for the challenge that awaits them Friday night.
“Honestly, just watching film it is pretty unrecognizable, who we were then compared to now. I think all factettes of the game have changed for us; in what we’re running, in our personnel, and just about every thing,” said head coach, Jory Collins.
“It’s going to be cool to see how we’ve improved from the first time to now and I think people are really itching to get back out there and see how we can improve and how we’ve all grown,” said senior guard, Heaven Hamling
“I feel like just in general we’re better equipped to handle things no matter who we’re playing; let alone those guys… Mara Braun is terrific. Sophie Hart is just really tough on the inside, Amaya Battle, terrific point guard.. they can hurt you in a lot of ways.. and they beat us in every way possible the first time we played them and I think just as a team we’re just better equipped to handle situations and schemes and things like that we’re just much more connected at this time of year then we were probably at that time,” said Collins.
North Dakota State and Minnesota will tipoff Friday night at 7:00 PM at Williams Arena in Minneapolis.
