When OJ Simpson Visited Lakes Country and Fargo

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) —  OJ Simpson has died from prostate cancer at 76.

The news was announced by his family on social media.

They say he was surrounded by children and grandchildren when he died in Las Vegas.

Back in 2008,  Simpson was in lakes country to play some golf and try his hand at fishing.

He hit the links at Thumper Pond Resort in Ottertail, Minnesota.

“Hey, good to see ya. A couple or three? I’m going to put these on my wall,” said one guy taking a picture with Simpson.

“I always wanted to be famous, I wanted to be Willie Mays and God gave it to me so here it is. But I like people and people despite everything the general public has always been terrific wherever I go,” said Simpson.

Simpson also spent some time at the former J.T. Cigarro in Fargo the night before.

He was here visiting friends and his girlfriend at the time, Christie Prody, who is from the area and sister of one of the bar’s then co-owners.
