NDSU Baseball Picks Up 3-2 Road Win at Northern Colorado
GREELEY, Colo. (NDSU ATHLETICS)– Logan Knight threw a career-high 10 strikeouts to help lift the North Dakota State baseball team to a 3-2 win at Northern Colorado to even the three-game series on Saturday afternoon at Jackson Field.
Knight (3-2) tossed a career-high 10 strikeouts in the win over 7.0 innings of work with one walk, one run and six hits. He worked five scoreless frames before Northern Colorado (7-26-1, 6-7-1 Summit) scored in the sixth. Joey Danielson earned his seventh save of the season closing out the final 1.1 innings with two strikeouts.
NDSU (9-21, 6-5 Summit) notched six hits as a team with Cadyn Schwabe contributing two to go along with one run.
Jake Schaffner broke through after two scoreless innings for the Bison with an RBI single in the third inning to make the score 1-0. Northern Colorado responded three innings later to tie the contest, 1-1, following an RBI single from Garrett Fisher in the sixth.
Jack Steil sparked the Bison in the seventh with an RBI double into deep left field to regain the lead, 2-1. Colten Becker then stretched the lead for NDSU sending across a run on an RBI sacrifice fly to make the score 3-1. Jake King attempted to get a rally going for the Bears in the ninth with an RBI single, but Danielson closed out the game with back-to-back strikeouts to secure the 3-2 victory.
NDSU will wrap its series at Northern Colorado tomorrow. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m. CT
