NDSU Softball Drops Doubleheader with SDSU
FARGO, N.D. (NDSU ATHLETICS)– North Dakota State softball dropped a doubleheader to South Dakota State Saturday afternoon at Tharaldson Park, falling 1-0 and 7-1 in Summit League play.
The Bison fell in a pitching duel in game one, as the only run of the game came with two outs in the first, as Lindsey Culver hit a solo home run to give the Jackrabbits the lead.
Savy Williams scattered three more SDSU hits in the rest of the game. She finished with one strikeout. Anjolee Aguilar-Beaucage, Bella Dean and Rylee Henderson recorded NDSU’s three hits in the game.
In game two, South Dakota State hit a pair of two-run home runs in the first and second to jump out to a 4-0 lead. NDSU would score in the fourth on an RBI groundout from Jasmyn Yessian, but South Dakota State answered with their fourth home run of the game to extend the lead to 5-1, before adding two more in the seventh on a Bison error.
Addie Bowers picked up the loss, allowing four runs on three hits in 1.1 innings. Kaitlyn Dunford tossed 5.2 innings in relief, allowing one earned run. Emilee Buringa recorded a pair of hits for the Bison. Aguilar-Beaucage, Chloe Woldruff and Zoe King also had hits for NDSU in the second game.
The Bison and Jackrabbits will wrap up the series on Sunday. First pitch is set for 11 a.m. at Tharaldson Park.
