2024-25 FCS Championship Game will Take Place on a Monday for the First Time
THE FCS TITLE GAME TYPICALLY KICKS OFF ON SATURDAY, THOUGH THE GAME TOOK PLACE ON SUNDAY THE LAST TWO SEASONS.
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR)–A major change has arrived for the FCS Championship game. It was announced on Saturday that the 2024-25 FCS title game will take place on Monday night this upcoming season. This announcement comes after two straight years of the title game being played on a Sunday afternoon. Prior to the Sunday games, the championship would typically take place on a Saturday.
Reports are saying that the cause for this shift is due to declining viewership and the head-to-head battle with the NFL on those Saturday/Sunday kickoffs.
The 2024-25 championship game will still take place in Frisco, Texas, but the Monday kickoff will be the first of its kind.
A kickoff time has yet to be announced but the game will air on ESPN. The game will occur on January 6, 2025.
The 2024-25 FCS season kicks off on August 24.
