Woman Killed in Gwinner House Fire is Identified

GWINNER, N.D. (KVRR/KFGO) — Thirty-nine-year-old Denise Luttio-Mahar has been identified as the woman who died in an early Sunday morning fire in Gwinner, North Dakota
Mahar called 911 around 4 a.m. to report smoke was inside the house.
Fire crews found her and she was taken to Lisbon Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
A dog also died in the fire.
A man on the first floor was able to escape, along with two dogs.
The medical examiner determined that Luttio-Mahar died from smoke inhalation.
It’s believed that the fire started in the basement.
The state fire marshal’s office is investigating.
