FARGO (KVRR) – Former Executive Director of the Metro Flood Diversion Authority Joel Paulsen has made his first public statement since his sudden resignation last week.

Paulsen resigned effective last Tuesday. In a press release, Paulsen says that he resigned over contract language that could not be reconciled.

“This decision was sudden due to irreconcilable differences over contract language that I believe could potentially increase risks, both financial and logistical, to our critical project.”

Paulsen also added that he would be willing to consult on the project in the future if the opportunity arose.

Paulsen’s resignation came as a shock to many members of the Diversion Authority Board, who had not been in the discussions that led to Paulsen’s resignation.
