Former Vikings LB Chad Greenway: “Take best player available.”
FORMER VIKINGS LINEBACKER GIVES HIS TAKE ON WHAT THE VIKINGS SHOULD DO IN NFL DRAFT.
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR)–Former Minnesota Vikings Linebacker, Chad Greenway, is in Fargo for the official kickoff event of the fourth annual Roger Maris All-Star Week.
He could not escape the question that everyone Vikings fan is thinking prior to Thursday’s NFL Draft round one: What will the Vikings do?
Greenway said, in part, “Everyone is talking about let’s jump up to get the quarterback. Everyone is excited about that. I am of the belief, after playing, I throw a wet blanket on that. I think we take best player available. But no one wants to hear that, everyone wants the splashy quarterback. [The excitement is to] trade up to 3. Let’s not hinge our complete future on one kid. Let’s build based off what we have. So, that is what I would do.”
Greenway added that defensive players tend to be more consistent in draft picks.
The NFL Draft begins Thursday, April 25 at 7 P.M. Central Time. The Vikings currently hold two first round picks: 11 and 23.
