Fargo-Moorhead Dorothy Day House to suspend operations Friday
15 men who currently reside there will need to find new shelter.
MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) – The Fargo-Moorhead Dorothy Day House will suspend operations indefinitely on Friday.
Executive Officer, Pastor Sue Koesterman, says 15 men who currently reside there will need to find new shelter.
Koesterman says the shelter can no longer afford to stay open. “This is a regrettable decision for all of us, but our first and foremost priority is to operate in a fiscally prudent manor.”
“Our hope is that this is a temporary suspension of services. We’ll need to work very hard to generate revenue over the course of the summer. But it is our hope that if we’re able to do that we’ll be able to reopen the Dorothy Day House in the fall” said Koesterman.
Koesterman says Churches United, which operates the shelter, hopes the suspension of operations is temporary.
She says current staff will be reassigned to jobs elsewhere in the organization.
