NDSU softball hits the road for Summit League tournament

FARGO (KVRR) – The NDSU softball program is heading to South Dakota to fight in the Summit League tournament. The Bison have had an up and down season, but they are optimistic they can surprise some teams.

“We’ve grown and matured a lot throughout this year. We just need to go and surprise some people and I think it will be very good for us.” said Savy Williams.

They take on Kansas City in the first round. The last time these two teams faced, it was a series win for the Roos in late April.

“Very excited because we feel like the team nobody is looking at. And I know we can put things together and we feel like we can be a really tough team if we get things going for us.” said Head Coach Darren Mueller.

But NDSU did take a game off them and now hope to pick up a win and pick up momentum down in Brookings.

“I feel like we are in a good position just to surprise people. We can have a very dangerous team and we can play with anybody there. Just the mindset of whoever is on the field against us it doesn’t matter. We just have to play the game that we know how to play and just go out and surprise people.” said Emilee Buringa.

The Bison start their tournament run on Wednesday against Kansas City at 3:30 P.M. down in Brookings, SD.
