Habitat for Humanity begins construction season with First Nail Ceremony

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – Lake Agassiz Habitat for Humanity helped a family drive the first nails into their new home Thursday.

The First Nail Ceremony marks the start of the building season for Habitat for Humanity, who will be building three new homes for families, and renovating one other in the region this year.

The Kemper Family will drive the first nails into their new home today at the ceremony.

Resource Development and Marketing Manager Pete Christopher says that getting the families engaged in the process is important to their mission.

“We’re really excited to help these families. We work alongside our families. Our homes are not free, our families have to help build their own home. So it’s always fun to get them out there, and kind of see their dream come to fruition.”

Habitat for Humanity came to the region in the mid 1990’s, and this will be the 76th home they’ve built.
