Fargo MMA fighters head north to battle in the Alerus Center

FARGO (KVRR) – This weekend, fighters from Fargo will be competing up north in Grand Forks for Throne Mixed Martial Arts. These fighters will be putting their talents, training and hard work into a showcase at the Alerus Center.

“It’s a nerve racking sport anyways. Especially having a bunch of family and friends and people I care about be there too. You want to perform well. Definitely adds a little bit of nerves to it.” said Joseph Lord with the Academy of Combat Arts Fargo.

“Super excited. This is actually my first MMA fight so just excited to get the feet wet in the cage and what happens, happens.” said Nick Rivers.

The fighters are from the Academy of Combat Arts here in town. Some are veterans that have been doing this for a long time, while some are doing this for the very first time in their young careers.

“Basically just a vehicle for self-improvement of myself. And my overall health. Fighting has made me dive deeper into things like meditation, eating healthy. Just bettering myself all around. That’s what I love about fighting and just the challenge and the feeling you get when you win.” said Collin Huckbody.

The fights start at 7 P.M. at the Alerus Center on Saturday.
