Gas Prices Remain Steady But Are Expected To Rise This Summer

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Gas prices continue to trend lower as we start the week and head towards the Memorial Day weekend.

AAA says the national average cost for regular is now $3.59 a gallon, four cents less than a week ago.

North Dakota’s average is $3.31 , while Minnesota is at $3.22.

They say this is not expected to last because of the summer travel season, and uncertainties with crude oil supply in the middle east.

“We know prices are going to go up after memorial day, probably won’t go up dramatically but they will rise. We’re switching to summer blend fuel that is a little bit more expensive to produce and more expensive for consumers to buy. So viewers should know that the prices are going to go up. This is a floor for the summer, not the ceiling,” said Skyler McKinley with AAA.

Mississippi has the lowest gas prices at $3.04.

California is the most expensive at $5.20.
