Man with long criminal background arrested after fleeing from police

FARGO/WEST FARGO, N.D. (KVRR/KFGO) — Police say a Mapleton man with a long criminal history intentionally hit a person with his car and ran from officers into the Sheyenne River in West Fargo.

Fargo Police responded to a report of a pedestrian hit by a car just before 1:30 this afternoon.

The victim was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers identified the driver as 37-year-old Nicholas Bruesch.

West Fargo Police located Bruesch and his vehicle around 3:30 p.m. near Cargill and attempted to stop him.

He took off speeding, eventually abandoning his vehicle in an alley near South Elementary, and walked away.

Bruesch was later arrested for reckless endangerment.
