Fargo Davies GSOC Captures First State Title Since 2018; Defeats Rival Minot 2-1
THE CHAMPIONSHIP REIGN IN GIRLS SOCCER ENDS IN MINOT; FARGO DAVIES IS THE NEW CHAMP.
MINOT, N.D. (KVRR)–The Fargo Davies girls soccer program celebrated their 1st state title since 2018 on Saturday, June 1. The Eagles had been to the title game twice in the last four seasons, but lost to Minot. The Eagles got their revenge with a 2 to 1 win over Minot who had won three straight titles and owned an unbeaten 69-0-1 record in their past 70 games. The Eagles end their championship season with a 16-0-1 record this season.
Head Coach Nick Christianson shared what the win means to his team.
“Every time you lose a senior class, it is tough,” said Christianson. “This group is extra special. Just having the success that they had, making multiple state championship games and coming up just a little bit short. For them to end it with a state championship, obviously, is a dream come true for them. Doing it against Minot, beating them on their home turf, just like they did to us last year, was a sweet moment. But again, I am just excited for that group to go out the way they did yesterday.”
Davies graduates six seniors.
