Four-Day 2024 Ribfest is Underway
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – Pitmasters from all around the world are taking over the Fargodome this weekend for the annual Ribfest.
Pitmasters at the event serve up some of the best barbeque in the world all in the Fargodome parking lot.
And this year is no different, with smoked brisket, sausages, and of course mouth-watering ribs.
Dan Johnson of Johnson’s Barbeque from Norfolk, Virginia has been serving up barbeque for almost 40 years.
He’s been to Fargo for every year of Ribfest and he says that Fargo’s Ribfest is one of his favorites.
“Well I can tell you we go all over the country and one of the best places we go is Fargo, North Dakota. The only thing we have to get used to is the wind, but short of that the folks come out they support it. It’s been successful for years, and I think it will continue to be successful.”
Sarah Dykema says that the event is a great way for the Fargodome to kick off the summer, and she has some advice for anyone planning to head to Ribfest.
“Come hungry. Take your time. There’s so much that each vendor has to offer. We also have other food vendors with cheese curds, we have corn on the cob. So you’ll definitely get your fix.”
Johnson also has some recommendations if you stop by to try his award-winning barbeque.
“I’ve got a thermonuclear sauce that’ll clear your cardiovascular system, your sinus, your pancreas and your colon in less than 32 seconds. You bite it, it bites back.”
While he loves all the barbeque that they make, Johnson says that one item has to be his favorite.
“Ribs. Ribs and then brisket and then chicken. They’re all good, but ribs, absolutely.”
Ribfest has lunch specials between 11-2 on weekdays, and an evening concert every night.
