Agricultural companies promote new Ag Innovation Corridor
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – A new initiative has been launched to promote the Red River Valley as a hub for agricultural innovation.
The Ag Innovation Corridor is a collaboration between over 100 agricultural companies celebrating the rich heritage of agricultural innovation, and promoting the region as the global epicenter for ag technology.
During an event announcing the initiative local entrepreneur Barry Batcheller stated the goal of making our region the Silicon Valley of agriculture.
Fargo-Moorhead Economic Development Chief Business Development Officer Ryan Aasheim said that bringing these companies to the region can help farmers better navigate new technologies.
“You can have partners like Grand Farm, partners like NDSU that can weed through some of that and say “Hey this technology is real, it’s legitimate, and then invite growers to come learn more, and in some cases partner on maybe a pilot project.”
The Ag Innovation Corridor says that the region’s 10 colleges and universities will be important partners in growing agricultural innovation, with NDSU, the University of Minnesota Crookston, and NDSCS hosting several ag programs already.
