FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – Hundreds of people gathered at the Urban Plains Park in Fargo for the Walk to Defeat ALS.

The walk raises money for those living with ALS as well as the family members and caregivers who support them.

Jessica Meyer lost her brother to ALS. She comes to these events to help raise money to look for treatments or even a cure for the disease.

She says these events can also help everyone in attendance remember that there are other people and families who are dealing with ALS too.

“Unfortunately we don’t like to become a part of this, because obviously that means you’ve been touched by it somehow. But it’s very good to bring the families together to get to meet other families who are going through it as well just like us.”

This year’s event raised over $56,000 to help people with ALS and their families.
