Surrealist art exhibition coming to Rourke Art Museum
MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) — Rourke Art Museum in Moorhead is preparing for its 65th annual Midwestern Invitational Exhibition of Fine Art.
This year’s exhibit celebrates the 100th anniversary of the inception of the surrealist art movement.
Artists from around the region were encouraged to dive into Surrealism and submit their pieces to the exhibition.
Rourke says it will be an exploration of how the surrealist movement has influenced contemporary art.
“There’s stuff that kind of plays with perception and space and some things are there are some things that might be disturbing including eyeballs and stuff,” said Jonathan Rutter, Executive Director of Rourke Art Museum.
The exhibit will open to the public on Tuesday with an awards ceremony scheduled later that night.
