40th Annual Roger Maris Celebrity Golf Tournament draws in big names
FARGO (KVRR) – The 40th Annual Roger Maris Celebrity Golf Tournament is held with some big names on the course at Rose Creek. Minnesota legends like Cris Carter and Chad Greenway were at Rose Creek Golf Course to help raise awareness and funds for the Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center in Fargo.
“We’re brainstorming trying to do a couple more events in the area that would benefit kids in the area. This is one of several things that I plan on doing with them over the course of the next several years.” said NFL Hall of Famer and Minnesota Vikings legend Cris Carter.
The center delivers world-class, comprehensive and family-centered care. Many of the celebrities at this year’s golf tournament took the time to stop by the cancer center to talk with families.
“Just went to the Roger Maris Cancer Center and met some families that are using it. You see the effect. You see why these events matter. Why raising money is so important. Life’s really about relationships and building them and had a chance to work with Sanford for a long time at great events like this.” said Former Vikings player Chad Greenway.
Included in this year’s tournament was 10-time MLB all-star and 1974 MVP in Steve Garvey and former Bison guard and current Cincinnati Bengals lineman Cordell Volson.
