Man arrested after multiple attempted car jackings and robbery in Dilworth

DILWORTH, MINN. (KVRR) — A man is in custody after multiple attempted car jackings and a robbery in Dilworth.
Dilworth Police were dispatched around 5 PM on Wednesday to 1609 3rd Ave. NW in Dilworth after a 911 call where a woman can be heard screaming “Help, let go of me, he’s trying to kill me!”
According to Dilworth Police, the suspect approached the woman’s vehicle and tossed something near it. When the victim asked what the man was doing the suspect initially responded that he was just putting his bags there for a minute, before saying he was going to steal her car and pulling a folding knife from his pocket, threating to stab the victim.
The man grabbed the victim’s purse, ripping the shoulder strap, before going to stealing another vehicle after throwing a concrete block through the passenger sided window.
Upon arriving on the scene Dilworth Police pursued the suspect to Walmart, where the man was attempting to hijack a citizen’s handicap accessible van.
When the officer located the man he fled on foot, eventually being stopped in the Walmart parking lot after Moorhead Police arrived to the scene.
The suspect was identified as Eric Flock, a 40-year-old man from New Mexico, with several non-extraditable warrants from that state.
He remains in the Clay County Jail facing charges of first degree aggravated robbery, second degree assault, two counts of attempted vehicle theft, misdemeanor motor vehicle tampering, and fleeing.
