Gov. Walz Highlights Resources for New Farmers

PINE ISLAND, Minn. (KVRR) — Governor Tim Walz traveled to a farm in Pine Island to highlight resources available for new farmers.
He says a shortage of new farmers and financial barriers to farming threaten the future of agriculture.
Some of the resources for farmers in Minnesota incude Beginning Farmer Tax Credit, Beginning Farmer Loan Program, and the Down Payment Assistance Grant.
That grant offers up to $15,000 for qualified farmers purchasing their first farm.
Gov. Walz says, “Minnesota is built on agriculture. We rely on our farmers to feed our families and drive the economy and it is vital that we support our farmers and create opportunities for new folks to enter the occupation, especially amid difficult times.”
